Xiaomi mi drone 4K Review

In March, Xiaomi released the Xiaomi mi drone 4k version, there’s a HD camera on it. Xiaomi official said that Xiaomi Mi drone 4K is an Easy to learn, high resolution videos, safe and convenient 4K camera WIFI FPV quadcopter. But what’s the trues? I just fly it just several days ago, and I will introduce what about this 4K drone.

1.Easy to Fly

I just got a drone, and then got it all working together, turn on it at twice times when the light of two switches both come white, that means you can fly. With a beginner mode, it`s more easy to fly this drone. And you can control all of directions or circle around something just by rocker.

You can just fly the drone with it’s automatic take-off +landing function, and also you can control it manually.

2. Set route

You can just set a pinned point on the map, and then the drone will fly following the routes you set. And also it can circle around the point.

3. Easy to pack

7. Some tips about Xiaomi drone

(1) You need to fly it in an open area and with a good gps signal.

(2) When you start flying your drone, make sure that the back of your drone is face to you, not the forward. In this way, you are easy to figure out the direction of it.

(3) When the drone is too far away or in a place that lost connection with your remote, the drone may switch to self control mode, which is very dangerous as it may drift everywhere till crashed. Therefore huge empty space is always recommended for your drone flying.

(4) When you at a zone with less GPS signals, you need to let antenna of remote control to face the drone.

(5) In case of emergency, press power and take off key at the same time, the drone will stop immediately and fall down in crashed.

Build Quadcopter-Frame Build

This is a guide to teach you “how to build a quadcopter frame”, and this is the first step about build a quadcopter. For beginners, this guide will give you much help. And this article’s source is Myfirstdrone, and I will share more build quadcopter steps in future.

This is the SK450 glass fiber quadcopter frame, you can buy it form RC online shop. It’s a vary simple and easy to build frame.

Inside the box you’ll get:

• the manual
• 4 arms
• a yellow orientation ball
• some screws
• all the fiberglass plates
• some rods to hold the ball
• a plastic screwdriver
• some black hex threaded spacers for the flight controller
• landing gear
• and the box (obviously).

Now that we have everything out of the box, we can start by screwing the arms on to the bottom plate for the frame (I’m using a 2.0mm hex driver). on the bottom side, each arm only requires 2 screws (so 8 screws total for the bottom).

After that we can flip the frame over screw the top plate on. This process is almost the same but instead of 8 screws, there are 16.

now we can install the mounting plates for the motors, they require 3 screws each.

We’re almost done with the frame, all we have to do now is mount the landing gear. There are only 2 screws for each arm (1 on each end).

Okay, the first step has finished, and next time I will share the other steps, if you are interesting in this, you can often visits my blog, I will try my best to share some useful things to you.

The Five RC CAR Types

RC car is a popular RC hobby, there are many people play RC car in the USA. There are many RC  car types like Street, Drift, Buggy, Truggy, Trucks and so on. Today I will have a simple introduction about these RC cars.

STREET

These are your average street cars. They are the fastest and the best on paved, flat surfaces. Do not get this if you are looking to drive in your backyard or want something with more power.

DRIFT

Drift cars are like on-road cars but with slick tires. You can slide around turns and still get almost as fast as an on-road car. They are good if regular cars bore you but you like to drive fast. Drifting is hard, however, so be warned.

BUGGY

Buggies are a cross between offroad and onroad cars. They are the second fastest on road but the slowest offroad usually due to their low wheelbase. Buggies are good for those who cant decide what type of car they want, since they can use it for both.

TRUGGY

Truggies are also a crossover like buggies, but they are more for the offroad. It basically takes the frame of a Buggy and puts monster truck tires on it. These are the 3rd fastest on road and the 2nd slowest off.

TRUCKS

Trucks are your monster trucks. They are amazing offroad but very slow onroad. They may flip a lot when trying to make high speed turns so these are not the best foron road and you should get these if you want to drive in the woods or in the grass the most.

History of FPV Drone Race

Now there are more and more racing on the world, and drone racing is quickly becoming a popular sport around the world, you can’t miss it if you are into flying multirotors or FPV. About drone racing, it is mainly talking about FPV drone racing. It doesn’t matter if you are piloting or just watching the race, anyone who takes it seriously doesn’t look at the drone from a distance, but instead they put on video goggles or use monitors to watch from the aircraft’s perspective.

Flying a quadcopter is the most surreal experience I ever had. You can go anywhere in 3D space, what you can do is totally up to your imagination.

Some say drone racing is a bit like a video games, apart from it’s real. In a game you can just restart after a crash, but in the real world if you crash you will have to do the ‘walk of shame’ and pick it up yourself. If anything is damaged you need to repair it. You can choose your own parts, upgrade your drone to fly faster, tune it like on a racing car so it flies better. Everything is highly customizeable.

History of Mini Quad Racing

The explosion of this racing aspect of the hobby has to go back to the development of “mini quad”. Before that people were mainly flying larger 450mm sized quadcopters and hexecopters.

The 450 quadcopters are heavier, and they lack the agility and durability (in crashes) compared to a racing smaller 250mm size mini quad. Mini quad are made for crashing, so even when you crash you can usually just pick it up and fly again within seconds. This gives pilots the confidence, and allows them to fly faster, through smaller gaps, and pushing their limits to the next level.

The numbers 250, 450 etc, is the diagonal motor to motor distance, basically that indicates the size of the multicopter.

Since then, we’ve seen huge progress in the horse power of these mini quad, increasing propeller sizes, higher LiPo battery voltage, larger motors… Some insane power to weight ratios of over 10:1 is becoming possible, turning these little toys into insane rockets, which are capable of reaching 80 miles/hour (~125Km/hr).

The Aloha Cup is the last, official qualifier event for the World Drone Racing Championships tour across 37 Countries in 2016. It’s your final chance to qualify for the individual, freestyle and wing categories. It will be located in the Iconic main field of the World Championships at Kualoa Ranch.

Firstly, I was brought to the master control center. It’s really amazing, when I see it, I just shocked by its automation. From this center you can scan every production department. A ‘red dragon’ animated icon shows up to indicate that something is wrong at that line. ehh….beyond my words.

I visit their production line, before going into the workshop. You need to wear dust shields and face mask and go through wind clean before entering. Once I stepped into the workshop something caught my eyes. How interesting it is, look! It’s a car moved itself transported something from one place to another place just by its settings, and it would not deviate from the route because it would scan the black route, and it is so smart that if you block its way, you`ll heard the alarm goes on, warning you to clear it’s path..

And what surprised me is that almost all of machines in Grepow are executed by programs written by their own Technology R & D department. This department owns more than 200 professional engineers and technical staffs.

Lastly, they have shown me the Production Process, includes: mixing, coating, pressing, stacking,  tab welding, injecting, formation, sorting, C rate test, packing, performance test, shipping .

There are many advanced machine in all the production lines, and when the battery was completed sealing and scanning, staff in Grepow will test the battery, if the battery not meet the standards. The Grepow staff would never let the one flow to the market. No wonder that Grepow Lipo battery has build up such high reputations after these years.

Saving a 7s battery with one dead cell?

This article is mainly tell you how to save your Lipo battery with one dead cell.

Lipo batteries are also used for RC cars or drones, and it is very popular in some RC car or FPV races. High voltage battery can offer high speed for your rc cars or drones, but what to do to a 7s pack with one dead cell?

                                                 

Notice: Don’t do this if you don’t know what you are doing. Very dangerous.

Before these, we should know some basic Lipo batteries knowledge; as we know, a LiPo cell has a nominal voltage of 3.7V, and a lipo cell = 1 cell = 1S = 3.7V. For the 25.9V battery above, that means that there are four cells in series (which means the voltage gets added together). This is sometimes why you will hear people talk about a “7S” battery pack – it means that there are 7cells in Series. So a four-cell (7S) pack is 25.9V, a three-cell (3S) pack is 11.1V, and so on.

So I had a 7s lipo that got one dead cell…

1v after constant 10 hours doing charging and dischargin…I gave up..she’s dead.

So what to do?

Decided to remove the dead cell and make 2 lipos… one 4s and a 2s pack.

Removed the balance plugs with a pin, and put the right ones on a new 2s balance plug…and going to do the same for the new 4s lipo to!

And wire everything correctly for a 4s and 2s packs… The warped in plastic is the dead one…was showin 0,2v now… lol

Taged and warped the others to know what they are.

Now I have a 2s pack for new new build Exo Terra from Axial :P, and a 4s for the Xray 808e SCT, or whatever comes up…And don’t need to trow into the right dumpster a lipo.

At last, you must noticed this again: make sure it’s dangerous and people need to know what lipos are and what they are doing. If not… don’t do it! I do it cause i have “experience” and know what i am doing in RC stuff!
